It has been confirmed that the prosecution has summoned Coach Son Woong-jung and other suspects for questioning regarding the child abuse allegations at the youth soccer training institution 'SON Soccer Academy' (previously reported on June 27, page 5).

According to legal sources on the 3rd, the Chuncheon District Prosecutors' Office summoned Coach Son, Head Coach Son Heung-yoon, and Coach A for questioning on charges of child abuse under the Child Welfare Act. The prosecution reviewed the overall case records handed over by the police, along with the complaint details.

Coach Son and the others are accused of physically or emotionally abusing child B. Previously, B's side filed a complaint in March, alleging continuous assault, verbal abuse, and corporal punishment during an academy training camp in Japan and at accommodations in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province. In response, Coach Son Woong-jung acknowledged the corporal punishment during physical training but explained in a statement that "there were no words or actions without the premise of love for the children."
